American astronaut Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin took one giant leap for his love life by marring Dr. Anca Faur on his 93rd birthday.

“On my 93rd birthday & the day I will also be honored by Living Legends of Aviation I am pleased to announce that my longtime love Dr. Anca Faur” he announced on Twitter. The post was accompanied by two images of himself in a tuxedo, with Faur in a lovely long-sleeved glittering dress. While the ceremony was small and private the couple certainly look as “excited as eloping teenagers.”

Thank you for all of the Happy Birthday wishes and heartfelt goodwill! It means a lot and I hope to continue serving a greater cause for many more revolutions around the sun!!Onward and upward and best wishes to all of you as well!

He tweeted later thanking everyone for the birthday wishes. Aldrin hopes to “continue serving a greater cause for many more revolutions around the sun!”

In 1969, Aldrin became the second man to walk on the moon behind crewmate Neil Armstrong, as a part of the Apollo 11 mission. The nearly 250,000-mile journey from earth to the moon took the crew four days. Once they landed, Armstrong and Aldrin made history by being the first two people to walk on the surface of the moon.

The astronauts planted an American flag, collected moon rocks for further study,  and set up scientific experiments before returning to the spacecraft. In total, Armstrong was on the moon’s surface for 2 hours and 32 minutes. Aldrin spent about 15 minutes less than that. The flight crew also spoke to (now former) President Richard Nixon via radio transmission from the Oval Office.

Since the moon was apparently not enough, Aldrin is now focused on efforts to reach Mars. He also spends his free time punching moon landing deniers who harass him. We hope this next chapter in Aldrin and Faur’s life is out of this world.
