Rigs are an essential part of a dab user’s itinerary. With the massive and continuous growth of the smoking industry, there is a corresponding increase in the number and quality of glass rigs.

These rigs are made in different parts of the world and by many different producers with varying differences in quality. For good reasons, a top option for users is American-made bongs.

However, it is worth noting that glass rigs made in the USA are sometimes used interchangeably with American-made bongs. While both work as smoking devices, there are a few differences. Below we will be talking about glass rigs, specifically glass dab rigs.

    What Are Glass Rigs?

Do you want to smoke your concentrates? Glass rigs are the way to go. You can also refer to glass rigs as dab rigs.

They are used to smoke vaporized concentrates. Dab rigs are generally favored for their high potency to give back with each puff and how fast it works. Thus, users who are not too familiar with cannabis may want to opt for other options.

    However, if the reverse is the other case, glass rigs are just the ticket to getting the best cannabis experience in the shortest possible time. It offers;

    • A fuller experience
    • Easy, drag-free sessions
    • Best flavor gain
    • High potency

While relatively new to the cannabis market, its presence is not understated. Glass rigs come in all possible aesthetically pleasing shapes and designs.

They also have an extensive price range from a few dollars to thousands. These, along with the many sizes it comes in and different manufacturers, make the effect payout vary.

Thus, opting for glass rigs made in the USA is best to get premium quality.

Are Glass Rigs Made In The USA Better Than Other Countries’ Glass Rigs?

Smokers around the world prefer rigs made in the USA. This is because the standard of production of the glass rigs is meticulous.

The producers work to keep to standard compared to other countries because the competition is high. So, to stay afloat in a largely saturated market, their products must be on par, which means higher quality materials, use of advanced machinery, etc.

Overall, the USA also has some of the most prominent glass-blowing brands.

    Most Popular Glass Rigs

While there is no one best brand, there are many quality brands. Why? A significant percentage of them hold up to strict quality control.

Still, the most popular rigs are from top brands like Jerome Backer, Envy glass, Grav Labs, etc. Purchase from them is a sure way to get the best rigs the USA can offer.

Pricing Of American Made Glass Rigs

Are glass rigs made in the USA affordable? The pricing greatly varies from product design to brand. Smaller rigs get you a lower price tag than bigger ones, and some brands are more affordable than others.

Some offer plain glass rigs with the base functionality for as low as $20+. In contrast, others offer more functionalities, aesthetically pleasing glassware, and some additional accessories for more. Thus, there are USA dab rigs for everyone. Per recommendation, choose one with intricate and high-quality glassware when making your purchase.

Consider it an investment; getting the best your budget allows makes for an excellent smoking experience and durability.

What Makes Up Glass Rigs Made In The USA

It is essential to become familiar with its components and feed to know how to use a glass rig. A rig’s feed are concentrates from cannabinoids (CBD, THC, etc.) from cannabis plants. These concentrates differ in consistency, but the bottom line is that the rigs can turn them to vapor.

    On the other hand, the glass rig is essentially a carefully designed water pipe. These designs vary from simple to electronic and others. However, they have the following in common;

The dab rig pipe is the main part used in consuming the vaporized concentrate.

A nail serves as the heater. It is attached to the rig pipe and is built to withstand extreme temperatures. You can get them in various materials, from glass to quartz, titanium, and ceramic.

As a subset, there is an alternative option of electronic nails. Of course, it significantly increases the cost when attached. Still, its accurate temperature control and butane-free heat source give it an edge over traditional nails.

Traditional nails require an intense heat source that can quickly heat them to the required temperature. Thus, while a lighter will fail, a blow torch will work well.

A dabber to transport your measured concentrate to the nail. Necessary to avoid burning your fingers. It is usually either a steel or glass tool.

A carb cap covers your concentrates and prevents atmosphere losses while vaporizing. It functions similarly to the kettle lid.

Q-tips to restore your nails to their spotless form after a smoke session.

    How Do Glass Rigs Work?

Glass rigs work by turning the dose of concentrate you place on the heated nail into the vapor you can inhale through the pipe. For a detailed guide, the following basic steps will make the sessions easy.

    1. First, attach and secure your mail to the glass rig. This is essential as any mistake could lead to burn incidents later. So, ensure it is tight and unmovable before proceeding to heat it.
    2. If it’s a traditional nail, heat it uniformly with a torch for at least 15 seconds or until it is ready. For electronic nails, connect them electrically to heat.
    3. Allow the nail to cool down to evenly disperse the heat (about double the heating time). Why? Blazing temperature dabs work at the expense of taste, flavor, and harshness.
    4. Now apply the measured concentrate onto the nail. You will notice its quick evaporation.
    5. You can now place the carb cap over and inhale the vapor gently. With well-made glass rigs, there should be no rush to inhale or exhale, and similarly, no resulting adverse coughing. If there is, it is a sign to cool your nail for longer in your next session.
    6. Lastly, clean the used nail with q-tips to eliminate any residue and prepare it for the next time.

Are Glass Rigs Safe To Use?

Using a glass rig is relatively simple and also relatively risky. For one, it requires you to work with high temperatures, a hazard of its own.

Thus, when you are ready, choose glass rigs of high quality that should be significantly heat resistant. Also, when using it, ensure the nail is tightly secured. You are mindful of the entire process. Glass rigs smoking is a method with one of the highest potencies available hence, the effects are almost immediate.

To improve safety, keep the nail away from you. Remember, it can stay sufficiently hot to cause burns minutes after heating.

Its potency also raises safety concerns. If you are new to using glass rigs, always start with minute amounts of concentrates and adjust the quantity as you go. Alongside cleaning up after every use, these will ensure your next session is safer and more enjoyable.

Should You Consider Size When Buying Glass Rigs Made In The USA?

Glass rigs come in two sizes; you can select the standard or mini size. Both sizes perform the same functions but have some advantages over the others.

For example, the mini-size glass rigs are compact with a smaller travel distance from the vapor point to inhalation. This increases the potency and the experience.

There is also improvement in taste as the vapor comes in contact with less air in its travel overall. Furthermore, it will serve you efficiently as a portable, easy-to-move-around smoking bonging device.

    Glass Rigs Vs. Bongs

Glass rigs and bongs may look similar if observed from afar. After all, there are smoking devices, and the overall shape and look are similar.

However, with closer inspection, you find they are different and may not be changed for the other. Bongs designed are for flowers and actual herbs, while rigs cater to vapor concentrates, also called THC concentrates, wax, oils, etc.

Their effects also differ similarly in potency and action time, with good glass rigs having reports of higher potency and quicker effect time from their users.

Another difference is in sizing and pricing. Glass rigs, in most cases, are smaller but more expensive than bongs.

    Conclusion

Glass rigs are the most traditional rigs. When intricately made with the highest quality materials, they give the best results and can last a very long time. This is the case with glass rigs made in the USA.

They work by vaporizing concentrates with the heat from nails. Coming in different sizes and prices you can select, depending on your need, they are perfect for potent and flavorful cannabis smoke.
