A new long-term agreement between Mattel and Netflix is going to keep Barbie in the spotlight for some time. The “Barbie” specials are some of the most streamed on the platform, apparently. The fashion doll has been a favorite for generations, and we can look forward to more exciting adventures.

    Netflix

The next special to make its way onto Netflix will be a choose your own adventure type interactive movie. “Barbie: Epic Road Trip” features Barbie “Malibu” Roberts, Barbie “Brooklyn” Roberts, Ken, and Skipper as they take a cross-country road trip to find homes for shelter animals. While planning to do that a potentially life-altering opportunity to become back up singers for their favorite star also awaits them in New York. There will be more than 100 decisions and 500 possible story combinations.

    Netflix

“Barbie: Epic Road Trip further strengthens Barbie’s ability to inspire, empower and entertain kids on a global level,” Senior VP and General Manager of Mattel Television Fred Soulie said. “We’ve been consistently expanding the presence of Barbie on the ever-growing streaming landscape through episodic series, long-form movies and specials, digital gaming, YouTube short-form content, and now, our first-ever interactive special. We couldn’t be more excited by this new era of content and for audiences to involve themselves with Barbie as they never have before.”

“Barbie: Epic Road Trip” debuts October 25th on Netflix, with more to look forward to in the coming years.
