When you want to sell your iPhone online there are some things you should do to protect yourself from losing data and inadvertently leaving data for someone to see. You may be asking yourself, how do I sell my iPhone online safely and securely? Keep reading to find out.

What to do before selling your iPhone

    Back up your phone

There are ways of backing up your information with an iPhone so you can easily access it when you upgrade to a new phone. You should be able to upload photos, videos and contacts so you don’t lose any personal information. For Apple products, you can create a temporary account on iCloud and upload all of your information. Third-party apps should also be backed up so you can easily access old messages, or projects when you upgrade your phone.

    Wipe your phone clean

It is a good idea to wipe your phone clean of all personal information. Ask yourself, when I sell my iPhone, do I want someone to be able to access my banking info, pictures and videos? The answer, of course, is no. Companies like Gizmogo can help you with this problem. They will send you a shipping label to send them your old phone and assess it for fair market value. They will also clean the memory so you don’t need to worry about anyone getting at your personal information. If you accept their offer, they will send you cash by e-transfer within 1-3 days.

    Unlock your phone

If your phone is carrier-locked then it is a good idea to unlock it with your carrier before selling it so the new owner can activate it with their own carrier. Unlocking your phone can also increase the value of the iPhone and make you the most money on your old device.

    Remove the SIM card

Remove the SIM card so you don’t need to get a new one.

    Clean the iPhone

Before you sell your phone, it is always a good idea to clean it with a microfibre cloth so any oils and fingerprints have been wiped off. If you are posting pictures of the iPhone, cleaning it beforehand will make the pictures look nicer.

    Take pictures

Take pictures of your iPhone from all angles and make sure they are in high resolution so they really pop online. If there are any scratches on the phone, that should be in the pictures too because you want to be honest and disclose everything.

When you are selling your iPhone online, there are certain precautions you should take to keep your information safe, back up your data, and unlock your phone. If you follow these guidelines, you will successfully sell your iPhone.
