Tom Cruise “Doesn’t Mean Sh*T” to Mickey Rourke

Oscar nominee Mickey Rourke recently visited “Talk TV” to chat with host Piers Morgan. For whatever reason, Morgan asked “The Wrestler” star what Rourke’s opinions were on Hollywood mainstay Tom Cruise. Obviously, Cruise’s return 35 years later to “Top Gun: Maverick” has generated a whopping box office return. In probably one of my favorite quotes ever, Rourke responded pretty clearly- “It doesn’t mean shit to me.”

“The guy’s been doing the same effing part for 35 years… I got no respect for that,” Rourke said. “I don’t care about money and power.” He goes on to list a few of the actors that he enjoys watching, like Robert De Niro‘s early work, or Al Pacino. Rourke revealed he likes to see actors that “stretch,” and “go beyond their limits.” Someone who doesn’t play the same type of part a hundred different times.

Morgan followed up by asking if Rourke thought Cruise was a “good actor.”

“I think he’s irrelevant in my world,” Rourke replied.

“Top Gun: Maverick” is still in theaters, and just passed “Titanic” as the highest-grossing domestic film for Paramount Pictures ever. Rourke’s latest film, “WarHunt,” is available on AppleTV+.
