The Rampant Passion For Rookies Cards And Stickers

People collect everything. A few years ago, on a well-known TV show dedicated to the most eccentric passions of human beings, there was talk of an American man who collected undressed mannequins. Yes, you read that right. This nice man had filled a large part of his house with white male and female mannequins of different heights and sizes. He had so many of them that it was extremely complicated to get from one room to another, but also inside the rooms where he had accumulated the most. He said he couldn’t do without them. Behind this kind of behaviour there is no discomfort whatsoever, no illness or mental weakness of any kind. What inflames the souls of these people is the demon of collecting, the desire to accumulate objects with the sole purpose of possessing them and looking at them when it suits them, fully enjoying those moments of pure contemplation. People do it above all to satisfy that particular inner urge, common to every human being, to devote ourselves to activities that produce strong adrenaline rushes and intense emotions, and that temporarily take us away, for a few blissful minutes, from the problems and stresses of everyday life, as if through them we were catapulted into a magical parallel universe completely detached from reality.

    Different kinds of collecting

To be a collector one does not necessarily have to fill one’s home with heavy or bulky objects. There are also collectors who use convenient containers the size of a square to archive and catalog their objects, and which can be stacked without any hassle in a cupboard or bedside table. All of them, and especially those who collect coins, stamps, or expensive clocks like the Rolex, can accumulate very large quantities of objects without the hassle of having to occupy large spaces, thus saving themselves a lot of hassle related to their storage. This kind of collecting is much easier for those who do not have a large space in which to store their objects, and who therefore have to make do with the compartments or closets that are already inside their home. Those who have a garage, or an attic, are at an even greater advantage since they can fill these spaces with their objects without disturbing the other occupants of the house.

    The passion for rookies

In recent years, a veritable craze has spread among collectors worldwide, especially among those who are passionate about cards and sports cards. This craze is assuming ever more considerable proportions and has even come to influence the strategic choices of some of the major international manufacturers of this genre of objects. The passion for ‘Rookies’, i.e. the first stickers or cards of a specific athlete or player, has developed over the last decade and has not yet stopped growing. The most prized pieces are even evaluated by some specialized companies, which place the card or figurine in a plastic container together with a plaque bearing the overall rating of the object. Those that are rated very highly, with grades between 8 and 9, are regularly sold for several thousand euros. Among the most valuable pieces are the first stickers of international champions such as Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo, published in 2004 and 2022 respectively by the Italian manufacturer Panini. Even without an appraisal by a special company, these figurines can fetch truly astronomical prices, provided they are well preserved and in impeccable condition. These passions continually feed on themselves, also because the manufacturers have, for some years now, started to include specific references to Rookies in their collections, making each collection even more attractive for the most avid collectors.

The sources of passion are almost infinite. All we can do is keep looking for new ones to constantly enliven our lives with fun and adrenaline-pumping activities. Fun-loving people can’t help but come across online portals such as VegasSlotsOnline, which for years have been offering an interesting selection of online slot machines and casino games to satisfy even the most demanding tastes, in a simple and absolutely safe manner. The site also features helpful guides and reviews written by experts in the field, an extremely qualified team of professionals who have also carefully selected every single game on the platform, evaluating them according to their online reputation and speed of payouts.

According to some, our life is nothing more than the sum of moments spent in total symbiosis with our purest passions, with everything that distracts us, for a minute or an hour, from the oppressive rawness of reality.
