How to Bet on Soccer in 2022

Although soccer doesn’t nearly have the same popularity in the United States as it does the rest of the world, obviously, soccer is still, in fact, the most popular sport in the world for a reason. The overall talent level in soccer is unparalleled when compared to the rest of the sports. The reason for this, of course, is because the talent pool is much larger for soccer players than any other sport.

In the US, there are 2-4 sports that the best of the best athletes will choose to play professionally over soccer, because of monetary and popularity reasons specifically in the US. NFL superstar wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr famously said that his best sport growing up was actually soccer, but he decided to go with football for those exact reasons mentioned above.

If Beckham Jr had grown up internationally, he most likely would have stuck with soccer and who knows how good he could have been. In other countries, though, the Beckham Jrs of the world stick with soccer.

So, as mentioned earlier, there is a very good reason why soccer is the most popular sport in the world. Looking at the other sports behind soccer, basketball is the 2nd most popular, but it is not even close to the same level as soccer. The UEFA Champions League specifically features a level of talent and competition that is not replicated across any other sport.

Aside from the UEFA Champions league, which is a 9 month long tournament that features the literal best club teams in the

Along with the UEFA Champions League, which is a tournament of the best club teams in all of Europe (which are also the best teams in the world), each country has their own soccer league that is riddled with star level talent. These leagues include the English Premier League (EPL, which is the best and the most popular), Bundisliga (Germany) , League 1 (France), Serie A (Italy), and La Liga (Spain). Of course, there are other countries that have soccer leagues, but those are going to be the best, on average.

    Betting on Soccer

So, now that we know that soccer is a great sport to watch and to follow, it is also important to understand that it is also a great sport to place bets on. It can be so much fun to bet on soccer because, as mentioned before, the level of competition is the highest among any other sport, but also because there is soccer going on pretty much the entire year. This means that there are almost always bets to place and games to watch.

The best place to start before you dive into your soccer betting career is to start using the best sports betting software out there, which is OddsJam. By using OddsJam, you will be able to get access to all of the Soccer Betting Lines across all of the major sportsbooks in the entire world.

Before you should even think about placing a bet, you need to invest into your soccer betting knowledge and skill-set. OddsJam is the perfect place to start this journey. Not only does it have all of the soccer lines mentioned previously, but OddsJam also offers a betting education blog that has articles detailing any type of betting topic you would ever want to learn about, including an article that covers how to actually bet on soccer. This same article also goes over the most profitable soccer betting strategies so you can not only bet on soccer, but turn a profit doing so.

Of course, the easiest way to become a consistently profitable sports bettor is to learn about Positive Expected Value betting. This strategy applies across all sports, but is valid for soccer betting as well. The OddsJam betting education blog does have an article that details what Positive EV betting is and why it is so profitable.

To give a brief overview of how it works, though, is essentially the Positive EV page pulls lines from the sharpest sportsbook in the world in terms of setting lines, and then pull lines from every major sportsbook and provide opportunities in which you can place bets on the other major sportsbooks that have more favorable odds. So, for example, let’s pretend the OddsJam line prices a Liverpool moneyline opportunity at -120 odds, but you realize you can place this bet at +100 on a FanDuel or DraftKings sportsbook. This would be an example of a Positive EV bet.

These other sportsbooks will include popular ones just mentioned like DraftKings or FanDuel, and other major books such as BetMGM or Caesars. Regardless, the Positive EV page will provide these types of bets, and tell you what your profit margin is. The wider the gap between the OddsJam line and the line of your bet will have a greater profit margin.

Either way, the bigger the difference between the OddsJam line and the line on the other sportsbook, the more valuable the bet is. Of course, not every single Positive EV soccer bet is going to win, but over time Positive EV betting will generate a profit in the long run.
