All hard floors need a deep clean from time to time, before you can start to clean them you need to ensure that the right homemade cleaner is used. All different types of flooring can require different methods and different ingredients for the cleaning product. End of tenancy cleaning London is here to help direct you on the correct cleaners for all kinds of different flooring. Homemade floor cleaners are most definitely safer to use on all your hard floors, shop brought cleaning products can cause more damage than good especially if you don’t check the ingredients. Not only can they cause damage to your flooring but they can also cause damage to your health too. Respiratory issues and even chemical burns can occur if not used correctly. This is why it is just all round safer to use a homemade cleaner made from all natural ingredients. These homemade cleaners are also super cheap to make up and most of the ingredients you will find you already have in your cupboards.

So let’s take a look at some homemade cleaning methods for Wood, Ceramic and vinyl flooring:

For wood flooring you will need ¼ cup of white vinegar, a bucket of warm water (approximately 1 gallon) and a few drops of your chosen essential oil (this is completely optional) . The essential oils are simply to add a refreshing fragrance of your choosing. The white vinegar will disinfect the surface area and the oils will leave your home smelling beautifully fresh. It is important to get the mixture correct, if too much vinegar is added it could damage the floor finish. To apply simply use a damp cloth or mop, ringing out any ace water before doing so.

For ceramic tile flooring the ingredients are slightly different, mix up ¼ cup of white vinegar, ¼ cup of baking soda, 2 gallons of hot water and 1 tablespoon of washing up liquid. Now before applying this mixture be sure to thoroughly vacuum or sweep the entire area, loose dirt and debris coil scratch the surface of the flooring if wiped across with a mop or cloth. Once the area has been vacuumed you can start to apply the mixture using your mop or damp cloth. Once you’re satisfied with the results, mop over with some clean water and allow it to fully dry before walking on it.

Vinyl flooring again has a slightly different mixture, it’s important to not use any ingredients that can cause damage to the vinyl. We recommend ½ a cup of white vinegar, a few drops of washing up liquid, 2 gallons of water and ½ a cup of rubbing alcohol. The rubbing alcohol will cut through any tough stains while the washing up liquid will cut through and grease. Again vacuum the entire surface before starting to mop. Once you are satisfied with the results mop again using clean warm water to rinse and leave to fully dry before walking on the surface. You can if preferred add a few drops of essential oils if you want that fresh scent after cleaning.

These are the best ways to get that fresh clean feel in your home without filling your home with chemical fumes. Cheap and easy to complete yourselves in minimal time keeping you free to do other things in your day.
