There are a lot of different boiler covers available in the marketplace. The different types vary from basic to more comprehensive offerings. The more comprehensive your boiler policy is, the more you can expect to pay for coverage. Because of this, you need to know what you are willing and able to spend on it. You want to look at the value you are getting for the money. This will be determined by the features and benefits of the policy you end up choosing. Below, Corgi share some of the different types of cover you can get.

    1. Boiler Only

You will find that boiler-only is the most basic option available. This also happens to be the most affordable. This particular policy only applies to your boiler and the controls. It does not include anything else including your central heating system as a whole. Because of this, you can expect to pay for repairs and maintenance for your entire unit because your policy won’t cover it.

Price: These policies can be purchased for as little as £2.40 per month.

    2. What Does A Full-System Boiler Cover Offer?

If you are instead looking for a more comprehensive plan like a full-system one, you’ll get a lot more coverage. This type of coverage will include everything from the cost to repair your entire central heating system and your boiler itself. Thus, if you have something go wrong with your entire system or any component of it, you’ll be able to lean on your coverage. Because these are much more comprehensive coverage services, you can expect to pay more.

Price: Full-System boiler coverage can start at £2.49 per month but the better deals that cover more can range from £10 to £20.

    3. Central Heating, Boiler, and Wiring Cover

This is easily the most comprehensive option that you can choose from. This coverage will cover everything from the basic maintenance of your unit to the repairs to your home’s wiring and central heating system. Thus, you are getting a lot of value for the money. This is a cover that will put your mind at ease knowing that you won’t have to come out of pocket to handle any major repairs in your home and with similar options in the market you must do boiler care comparison to know the best option for you.

Price: Because this is the most comprehensive coverage solution, you can expect to pay for it. This coverage typically costs around £30 per month.

    – What May Not Be Included In My Boiler Cover?

Even if you opt for the coverage with the most comprehensive policy, you’re going to run into issues where something won’t be included. For instance, you’ll find that a few policies won’t cover boilers that exceed a certain age. For a lot of the providers, boilers that are over 8 to 10 years old won’t be covered. That being said, you can look at our content covering boiler cover reviews to get more information about this.

You will likely find out that you can only use the coverage a certain number of times every year. Thus, if you find yourself going over the limit, you’ll need to pay all of the respective costs out of pocket. This includes the repair costs and the cost of labor. If you find that the boiler requires replacement, some policies will not give you the money it takes to replace it.

Many boiler policies will force their customers to pay more when they have to call a professional engineer. This is a fee that is set in stone and it’s something you’ll need to pay out of pocket no matter how much the actual cost of the service is. Unfortunately, these fees can be as much as £95 per call. Because of this, you may want to prioritize finding a service that doesn’t charge this excess fee.

    – How To Choose The Right Level?

Whenever you are in the process of picking between all of the options, you’re going to want to start with your budget. It’s important to look at your budget to figure out how much you can afford to spend on needed repairs. Figure out how much you can spend on an emergency repair and you will be in a much better spot to choose the right coverage. If you are simply looking to protect yourself against needing to go out of pocket to repair your boiler, you could likely get by with a basic policy. However, if you are looking to have something that can cover most (if not all) of the expenses you’ll have, you will want a much more comprehensive plan.

If you want everything to be covered from your entire central heating system to your boiler, you’re going to want to go for comprehensive coverage. This coverage will give you the peace of mind you need. That way, you don’t have to worry about having to pay expensive labor costs or repairs out of pocket.

    – Is Boiler Breakdown Coverage Within House Insurance Policies?

You’ll find some house insurance policies that will offer this coverage. However, you need to check your homeowner’s policy to be sure. It will tell you what is and what isn’t covered.

    – Are Boiler Covers Worth Buying?

This comes down to whether or not it’s in your best interest. Figure out the budget you have to work with. Likewise, you want to factor in your peace of mind. Some want everything to be covered so there are no emergency surprises. However, some would much rather pay for the occasional emergency service when it’s needed.

In most cases, you’ll find that the excess on a policy and the monthly premiums attached will mean that you don’t necessarily save money by taking out a boiler cover policy. Instead, you’ll want to find one that doesn’t have an excess fee and one that has a good reputation within the marketplace to ensure you’re getting good value for the money.
