If you love Pokémon and are planning a trip to Japan, then you may want to adjust your plans to incorporate some really cool exhibits. This touring museum was created in 2021 to teach visitors about real life fossils while featuring some Pokémon ones that could be found inside the game.
Many Pokémon creatures are inspired by real animals, bugs, and sea creatures. The designs of Kabutops and Omastar are derived from fossils dug up and studied by paleontologists. The museum features life-size ‘fossils’ of Pokémon characters alongside real-life relics. Each location of the Pokémon Fossil Museum will also have a gift area with official merchandise including notepads and plushies.
Right now the traveling museum is only in Japan but hopefully if it grows in popularity they will consider to have them in other regions as well.
Here are the places and dates where you can see the Pokémon Fossil Tour:
National Museum of Nature and Science (Tokyo Prefecture) – March 15, 2022, to June 19, 2022
Toyohashi Museum of Natural History (Aichi Prefecture) – Summer 2022
