Walt Disney Animation Studios released a new trailer for their upcoming film “Encanto” this morning. It gives us a better look at what we can expect from the new movie. The “Encanto” trailer reveals more about the characters and features clips of the music, written by Lin-Manuel Miranda.
“Encanto” is about the Madrigal family and their magical home, Casita. “Many years ago, this candle blessed our family with a miracle. Our house, our Casita, came to life with magic! In time, every member of our family was given their own magical gift,” says Abuela.
The trailer goes on to reveal some of the characters and their powers. There is Luisa (Jessica Darrow) who is super strong, Camilo (Rheny Feliz) who can shape-shift, and Antonio (Ravi Cabot-Conyers) who can speak to animals.
Our protagonist, Maribel (Stephanie Beatriz), is the only member of the Madrigal family who does not possess a magical gift. Tragedy sets upon the Madrigal family and their Casita. As the family begins to lose their powers, it’s up to Maribel to find a solution.
The overall theme of the ‘Encanto’ trailer seems to be that we all have something special to give to the world. The trailer paired with the music evokes all the feel-good magical qualities that we have come to expect from a Disney movie.
“Encanto” debuts in theaters November 24th, 2021.
