Can CBD Help With My Dental Pain?

You’ve probably heard a lot about CBD products these days. With everything from gummies to edibles to oils to tinctures, there are so many ways of taking this compound. CBD, also known as cannabidiol, is an ingredient found in hemp plants that are associated with the calming properties of marijuana use. It’s known to help some users experience relief when it comes to stress and inflammation, but can it come in handy to help with pain post-dental treatment? Let’s take a closer look at what CBD may have to offer when easing dental discomfort.

    Dental Anxiety

One of the most common uses of CBD is to help ease occasional anxiousness, whether that stems from what’s going on at work or what’s about to happen in the dentist’s chair. You can explore the CBD market to find a low-dose CBD oil that eases any discomfort you may be dealing with mentally as you prepare for a dental procedure, or physically after the procedure is complete.

A CBDistillery coupon code could tempt you to test out the products they have to offer that may help you feel a little less stressed. If you do pursue CBD products, make sure that you consult with your primary care provider.

    Toothaches and Tooth Sensitivity

If you have sensitive teeth or find yourself constantly dealing with toothaches, CBD could potentially provide some benefit. A true toothache is caused by inflammation of the pulp inside natural teeth. CBD tinctures and other products have been associated with easing symptoms associated with inflammation for patients struggling with conditions like arthritis. This rings true for osteoarthritis as well.

If you have found yourself experiencing pain when you’re eating ice cream or drinking something cold, that could mean you have tooth sensitivity. This comes from the nerves in the teeth, as the roots of the tooth become porous over time. While CBD might help deal with the stress of having sensitivity, CBD has not yet been confirmed to have a direct impact on the discomfort caused by tooth sensitivity.

    Cavities and Gum Disease

Formally known as periodontal disease, an infection of the gums resulting from plaque build-up is fueled by bacteria living in the mouth. If left unchecked, it can cause your gums to bleed, bringing pain and swelling. For some patients, it could lead to missing teeth. Gum disease is brought on by an imbalance within the oral microbiome of the mouth. CBD can help to combat this by reducing swelling and inflammatory properties of this plaque build-up.

While cavities and tooth decay are among the more common visits to the dentist’s office, those conditions are linked to the demineralization of teeth. This is caused by the byproducts of eating and drinking, forming cavities with lower pH in the mouth due to bacteria digesting what you just ate. CBD can’t rebuild enamel, but it may help ease the pain and stress of having a cavity addressed during a procedure.

    Post-Surgery

When it comes to dental treatment recovery, you may want to avoid addictive pain medication that may make you feel imbalanced with certain side effects. CBD is seen by some users as a more natural way to deal with the inflammation and pain that you feel after dental surgery or tooth extraction.

CBD products might be the way to approach post-surgery trauma but make sure not to apply something to a surgical site that could do greater damage in the long term. Remember, when it comes to CBD, low and slow is the way to approach the dosage. Don’t dive into a high-dose or full-spectrum CBD product that may contain THC, leading to a psychoactive high that you didn’t want.
