PA Supreme Court Overturns Bill Cosby Conviction, Orders Immediate Release

    This just in-

according to new documents filed in Pennsylvania by the Supreme Court, Bill Cosby‘s conviction has been overturned, and his immediate release has been ordered.

An agreement with a previous prosecutor reportedly prevents him from being charged in the case.

You can read the full thing here:

In evaluating the likelihood of a successful prosecution of Cosby, the district attorney foresaw difficulties with Constand’s credibility as a witness based, in part, upon her decision not to file a complaint promptly. D.A. Castor further determined that a prosecution would be frustrated because there was no corroborating forensic evidence and because testimony from other potential claimants against Cosby likely was inadmissible under governing laws of evidence. The collective weight of these considerations led D.A. Castor to conclude that, unless Cosby confessed, “there was insufficient credible and admissible evidence upon which any charge against Mr. Cosby related to the Constand incident could be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.”

“For these reasons, Cosby’s convictions and judgment of sentence are vacated, and he is discharged,” the filing states.

Cosby has been denied a request for parole recently, so this ruling comes as an absolute shock. He had been accused of no less than 50 women.

Key grafs: @SupremeCtofPA determines that because former DA (and Trump impeachment attorney) Bruce Castor promised Bill Cosby he'd never be prosecuted for sexual assault of Andrea Constand & he waived his 5th Amdt rights thereafter, subsequent DA was stuck with that promise. https://t.co/Ys60elxpNq pic.twitter.com/3i8UVXDIWg

Fuck! This is absurd! My mother is a survivor of this vile man… who drugged and raped her in the mid-60s (you can read her statement here: https://t.co/A5hKEhHv4A). I hope they take him straight back to trial. https://t.co/n1YmUkzjhc
