Here’s Your Chance to Live in Mr. Rogers’ Actual Neighborhood

Well it’s another article for those of us in our thirties. Something about nostalgic real estate really gets you going. And now Mr. Fred Rogers’ Pittsburgh home is on the market. If that doesn’t make you want to change your shoes and throw on a nice cardigan I don’t know what will.

    Coldwell Banker

The home is a huge 3,693-square-feet. Rogers’ and his wife, Joanne Rogers, lived in the 1960s is for sale through Coldwell Banker. The home at 5381 Northumberland St. in Squirrel Hill was listed on Zillow for $850,000. Fantastic that the home is going for less than $1 million.

It’s a five-bedroom home with four bathrooms. Originally built in 1921 it has two fire places and even a library that sits off the dining room. The library alone is drool worthy.

His address there was documented in the birth announcement of their son John Frederick Rogers in 1961. He raised both his kids there before he moved to be closer to the recording studio for his work on “Mister Rogers Neighborhood.”

More specifically Fred Rogers moved to this home sometime in the late 1950s, and stayed there until the family changed homes in 1966. During this time he started up “Misterrogers”, on CBC Television in 1962. Then “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood” the show we love and remember premiered in 1966 on WQED.

You can check out the listing for it on Zillow here.
