Walmart announced last week that they would be foregoing the typical Black Friday start up sale on Thursday and it would seem that other retailers are now following suite. Target said in an announcement today that they would be following their lead and keeping their doors shut on Thanksgiving.

They also say that “deals on the hottest items both before and after November 26″. So they will be rolling out the savings early in an attempt to keep long lines down.
What kind of sucks is that this is also the first year where most families are not going to get together so that no one gets sick. So while the gesture is nice, it shows that they could have been doing this all along and allowing employees the day off with their families. Hopefully they will continue this even when it is safe to go out.
