Attention trainers! Summer may be nearly over but there is still one last opportunity to get some fun in the sun! For a limited time, the water festival event has returned to Pokemon GO! From now through August 30th more water type Pokemon can be found in the wild.

    Wailmer! Wailmer everywhere!

During this event Pokemon such as Squirtle, Magikarp and Wailmer can be found more frequently. Additionally, trainers will have a greater chance of discovering the following Pokemon near bodies of water:

    • Wartortle
    • Poliwhirl
    • Lotad
    • Feebas
    • Buizel
    • Seaking
    • Lapras
    • Qwilfish
    • Mantine
    • Piplup
    • Finneon

Eggs hatched during the event will have a higher chance of being water Pokemon. Hatching eggs will also be more beneficial during the event because trainers will earn twice the amount of candies for each egg hatched. Additionally, the distance needed to walk to earn Buddy candies will be half if your buddy is a water type. This also includes Vaporeon who can be walked for Eevee candies.

Shiny Carvanha looks very different from its original

High-level water types such as Lapras, Blastoise and Vaporeon will be available as Raid Bosses throughout the event. On August 28, the Legendary lake trio- Azelf, Mesprit, and Uxie- will be available as Raid Bosses in their respective regions for a special Raid Hour. The water festival will also be trainers’ first opportunity to encounter shiny versions of Carvanha and Barboach. This event only lasts until the end of summer, so trainers should be sure to get out there and fish for some new Pokemon! Just make sure you don’t bait something as big as Wailord!
