Disney Releases Trailer for “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil”

Just a couple days ago, Disney released the official trailer for the next movie in the Maleficent series.  This Disney movie is set to hit theaters on October 18th, 2019. Raking in about 3 million views on its release day, the official trailer shows us snippets of scenes, the actors who will star in it, and the storyline.

    The Plot

In Maleficent, the first film in the series, we are shown another side to the classic fairy tale.  Instead of automatically painting Maleficent as the villian, the movie portrayed her during happier times.  Once, she was in love too, but was betrayed and turned into the cold hearted person that we usually see her as.  Consequently, she fulfills her role as the evil fairy who casts a spell on Princess Aurora. Thus, dubbing her “sleeping beauty.”  A lot of action and drama occurs throughout the rest of this twist on the classic fairy tale. In the end, we are left with a new version of “happily ever after.”

However, a lot of changes happen over the course of 5 years – as we see in the new trailer for Maleficent: Mistress of Evil.  For instance, it is revealed that Princess Aurora is living peacefully and engaged to her love, Prince Philip.  In addition, Maleficent has become more of a mother figure to Aurora rather than an enemy.

Unfortunately, when Maleficent hears of the engagement, she does not take the news too well.  Scarred by her last love, she does not plan on letting Aurora run off with her prince.  She takes “overprotective parenting” to a whole new level and even goes head to head with the queen.  Maleficent has a big, caring heart, but the way she shows love is quite different from what the queen has in mind.  With clashing sides and ideals, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil is sure to give its audiences another story that will change your thoughts of the classic tale.

    The Cast

Angelina Jolie will make her glorious return as Maleficent.  Elle Fanning will continue playing Princess Aurora, and Michelle Pfeiffer will enter as Queen Ingrith.  On the other hand, the role of Prince Philip will be passed from Brenton Thwaites to Harris Dickinson.
