Possible post-credit ‘Avengers: Endgame’ teaser for Fox properties? Probably not if the Disney-Fox deal is delayed by Brazil

As the premiere of Avengers: Endgame draws near on April 26th it seems unlikely we would see any glimpses of new Fox properties in the MCU, yet if the Disney-20th Century Fox merger closes in March some sources speculate that there could still be time to squeeze in a post-credit teaser at the end of Endgame. Could we see teasers for X-men, Fantastic Four or maybe Silver Surfer?

Fox has two X-men properties unrelated to the MCU due out in 2019: X-Men: Dark Phoenix on June 7 and The New Mutants in August. After that, the X-men franchise will most likely be rebooted when they join the MCU. Fox canceled other X-men and Fantastic Four movies it had in the pipeline (Gambit, Multiple Man, Silver Surfer, Dr. Doom, Kitty Pride) due to its acquisition by Disney.

Could we see a teaser for what the MCU might do with its newly acquired properties? Unfortunately, the merger has hit a snag with Brazil’s antitrust regulator CADE, which fears a sports monopoly from Disney owning both ESPN and Fox Sports. The U.S. Department of Justice approved the merger with the condition that Disney sell 22 regional Fox Sports channels and it is likely that Brazil may have the same condition. CADE has to make a decision by March 17. Mexico may also require Disney to sell Fox Sports and Disney would be willing to do that according to Bloomberg.

So if the deal goes through quickly enough could we see a tiny post-credits teaser such as a silver surfboard as suggested by The Hollywood Reporter? Maybe, but it is more likely that we will see post-credit teasers for Black Widow or The Eternals expected out in 2020.

I am still waiting for that blue police box to take me on a star trek to a galaxy far, far away. Until then I will have to content myself with fantasy and sci-fi adventures from books, movies, and TV shows.
