First Trailer For Hellboy Reboot Leaks

When news broke that the Hellboy movie franchise would be going through a reboot without Guillermo del Toro and star Ron Perlman at the helm a lot of fans of the Darkhorse comic series were more than a little upset. The more we have learned about the project though the more people started to come around to the idea and when an image of actor David Harbour in full Hellboy makeup leaked online a while back expectations were sky high for the reboot.

As you may have heard by now attendees at New York Comic Con got a glimpse of the upcoming movie in trailer form this week at the event and now a video of said trailer has leaked online, or at least it had been all over the web earlier. I assure you guys I’m not going crazy and I saw the trailer and it was EPIC!! I am on the train for this new Hellboy and I am beyond excited for it. Unfortunately Lionsgate has removed all traces of said trailer, so I know I am not seeming to credible at the moment.

Edit: We found a new link for the trailer, which make be taken down at any time. You’ve been warned!

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9A-0gxc3MEk&feature=youtu.be

The trailer was far from the best quality, but it was certainly watchable I got a pretty good look at Harbour’s iteration of the titular hero, as well as glimpses of Alice Monaghan (Sasha Lane), Professor Bruttenholm (Ian McShane), Ben Daimio (Daniel Dae Kim), and Nimue the Blood Queen (Milla Jovovich).

The trailer did through in some humor but for the most part it had a very ominous tone. We got more than enough of Harbour as Hellboy, and if you seen the original Hellboy movies than you know all about the personality of our titular hero. The trailer also sets up our villain the Blood Queen who is perhaps the most sinister villain portrayed in the Hellboy franchise, even more so than the original Hellboy’s Rasputin. Our heroes are doing what they do best in hunting down monsters of the supernatural world when the trailer starts and it seems they are veterans at it. We aren’t getting another origin story, thank god, origin stories are so overdone now a days.

What will differentiation this reboot from Del Toros is the much darker tone with Neil Marshall aiming for a scarier and grittier tone than Del Toro’s dark yet humor filled Hellboy movies as it was geared towards a younger audience. It seems the reboot will be an adult friendly film with an announced R rating.

With the leak it would be safe to assume Lionsgate will release something more official in the next few days after all the movie does premiere April 2019 just a week after DC comics Shazam movie, which we already have a trailer for.

Austin Barnett was born and raised in Mount Sterling, Kentucky where he spent his teenage years getting lost in the world of video games, comics and fantasy novels. As an adult Austin moved with his lovely wife to the hills of eastern Kentucky, where he still tends to get lost in the same worlds he did as a teen. In his free time Austin likes to attend Comic Conventions and work on his novel he will probably never finish.
