the long-rumored 3rd entry into the “Gremlins” film franchise is a go! Chris Columbus (“Home Alone,” “Harry Potter“), who wrote the original film which was directed by Joe Dante, will direct. Columbus will also exec produce alongside Steven Spielberg.

According to reports, Toby Halbrooks and Carl Ellsworth wrote a prior draft of the project. Columbus, Zach Lipovsky, and Adam Stein are credited as handling the current version, but none of that is final yet.
“Few titles are as beloved and iconic as Gremlins, and we’re beyond excited to bring it back for both lifelong fans and a whole new generation,” Jesse Ehrman, President of Development and Production, Warner Bros. Pictures, said. “It’s a privilege to be working alongside Steven, Chris, and the entire creative team, and we look forward to audiences experiencing the next installment of the magic, mayhem, and heart of Gremlins on the big screen in 2027.”
Warner Bros. CEO David Zaslav confirmed the project during an earnings call this morning. He also revealed the current release date of November 19th, 2027.
