“Remember, remember, the 5th of November…”
While the rhyme regarding Guy Fawkes predates the “V for Vendetta” graphic novel by a good, oh, 380 years, it wasn’t until the live action film hit in 2005 that EVERYONE knew the stanza. As it is 2025, that means James McTeigue‘s film is celebrating it’s 20 year anniversary. And what better way than a theatrical return?

Based on the graphic novel written by Alan Moore and illustrated by David Lloyd, “V for Vendetta” starred Hugo Weaving as V, Natalie Portman as Evey, John Hurt as Adam Sutler, and Stephen Fry as Deitrich. Following worldwide war, London has become a police state occupied by a fascist government. A vigilante known only as V (Weaving) uses terrorist tactics to fight the oppressors of the world in which he now lives. When V saves a young woman named Evey (Portman) from the secret police, he discovers an ally in his fight against England’s oppressors.
Unfortunately, the film won’t be returning to theaters until November 5th, 2026. (Which will actually be the 20th anniversary of when it premiered in England.) You can find out more about the re-release via Fathom Entertainment‘s website here.
And, pick up the original graphic novel here, or the 4K here.
