    The 5 Different Types of Logo

    It’s no secret that one of the most important steps in starting a business is creating your logo. It will follow you everywhere, all the time, and will determine your identity. Before you start, we will show you all the options available.

    Different Types of Logo

    Logos are conventionally divided into several groups. Let us consider them in more detail.

    The text logo

    Its name describes it quite well, just text… or almost! It is essentially composed of the name of the company. It can also include a slogan and small visual additions such as lines or simple letters that are:

    • smaller;
    • larger;
    • with a different angle.

    Typography and color will then be important because they will give identity and originality to your logo. This style usually ages well. Text logos are also easily made. By selecting your favorite font, you could create a text logo in a couple of minutes.

    The symbol logo

    No company name, no text, just a symbol. The advantage of this type of logo is that it is readable even in very small resolution, but it is usually used by already well-established companies that no longer need presentation. So unless you call yourself Apple or Nike, we don’t recommend this type of logo.

    The combined logo

    As you may have guessed, it combines text and symbols. It is this type of logo that is most often used. The name of the company will be supported by an image, shape, or design that will complement and serve to better identify the style of company you are and what you do.

    This type of logo can scale very well with the status of your business. When you get as big as Google, you can only use the image.

    The initials logo

    Is your company name long and endless? This is often the easiest and most effective way to incorporate it into your logo. We are thinking, among other things, of a law firm or notary. “Jimmy Farlon Tremblay Bouchard and Associates” is quite difficult to integrate into a logo. JFTB and Associates will be much more harmonious, balanced, and easier to read in small resolution.

    The emblem logo

    Unlike the combined logo, in this one, the text and the symbol cannot be separated. They will always be used together because the company name is embedded in the symbol. Keep in mind that in small resolution, it will often be a little more difficult to read.

    Final Words

    Some of these logos are easily created with the right tools, even by a non-designer. But if you don’t feel up to the task of designing your logo, you’re not alone. You may consult an expert.

    Running a small business makes you aware of the importance of standing out and grabbing instant attention. An impressive and recognizable logo helps to remember your company. However, creating it from scratch or updating it can be very complicated. A task as simple at first glance as selecting your favorite fonts can be overwhelming.
