Zil Money Helps Businesses Turn Emailed Vendor Invoices Into Bills Ready for Review

Email to Bill uses OCR and AI to capture invoice details, flag possible duplicates, and move bills into existing approval and payment workflows

TYLER, Texas, Sept. 9, 2026 — Zil Money, a business payments platform, is highlighting Email to Bill, an accounts payable automation feature designed to reduce the manual work between receiving a vendor invoice and getting it ready for approval.

For many business owners and finance teams, paying a vendor starts with work that happens before the payment itself. An invoice arrives by email as a PDF, scan, or message. Someone then has to open it, read the details, enter the information into the payment system, check it, and send it for approval.

Email to Bill is designed to reduce that retyping while keeping review and approval in the hands of the business.

Each business receives a dedicated invoice email address that can be shared with vendors or added to purchase orders. When an invoice is sent to that address, Zil Money uses OCR and AI to read the invoice and extract available information such as the vendor name, invoice number, issue and due dates, currency, subtotal, tax, total, PO or reference details, and line items when present.

The invoice then appears in the Bill Inbox for review.

Staff can compare the extracted information with the original invoice, correct fields when needed, add information such as a GL code, class, project, or cost center, and then convert the invoice into a bill.

The bill continues through the business’s existing Zil Money approval rules. The Email to Bill workflow does not bypass those approval controls.

That review-first approach matters as finance teams increase their use of automation.

According to Ardent Partners’ State of AP 2026 research, 48% of the 194 accounts payable, procure-to-pay, and finance leaders surveyed identified slow invoice and payment approvals as a challenge. The same percentage cited high exception rates. The research was sponsored by Medius and xSuite.

Email to Bill also checks incoming invoices for possible duplicates. Zil Money says the platform uses email metadata and invoice fingerprinting to identify invoices that appear similar to items already received. When something looks familiar, the system displays a duplicate warning so the business can review it before continuing.

Once a bill has been reviewed and approved, businesses can use available Zil Money payment methods, including check, ACH, wire, wallet, or virtual card.

The result is a more connected invoice-to-payment workflow: vendors continue sending invoices by email, while the business gets the invoice information organized for review instead of starting with manual data entry.

For owners and finance teams managing a growing number of vendor invoices, the goal is straightforward: spend less time moving invoice information from one place to another while keeping people involved where financial review and approval matter.
