Soulframe Moves Toward Full Release After 14 Alpha Updates

Digital Extremes started making Soulframe before asking Tencent, its corporate owner, for permission. CEO Steve Sinclair pitched the game after the studio had already committed resources, and Tencent was “cool” about it. Wagering on live-service game success tracks closely with studio independence, and entertainment markets on sites like 1xbet website have started reflecting how development transparency correlates with long-term player retention. Soulframe is now on its 14th closed alpha update, Game Informer gave it a full cover story in April, and the 1.0 launch is approaching with a community that has been testing the game for over two years.

What Soulframe Is and Why It Took This Long

Free-to-play fantasy MMO set on Alca, a world under occupation by an extraterrestrial force called the Ode. You play as the Envoy, a warrior carrying a magical Pact Arm, and the loop runs through combat, exploration, and cooperative quests aimed at restoring the land. Digital Extremes built it on the same proprietary Evolution Engine that runs Warframe, with younger developers leading the work.

Warframe has 85 million registered players and broke its own playercount record last year, so Digital Extremes is not hurting for revenue. Soulframe exists because someone in the statistics department said in 2016 that Warframe was declining and the studio needed something new. Sinclair says that prediction turned out to be spectacularly wrong, but the game it produced is now too far along to stop.

Books pricing free-to-play MMO longevity read Warframe’s curve as the upside scenario and treat anything resembling its development cadence as a positive signal on the wagering side. Soulframe inherits the engine and the audience, but the gameplay loop is meant to play differently. Slower, more atmospheric, less twitch-shooter and more sword-and-sorcery, the kind of structural shift bettors usually price as either a bold reinvention or a brand-extension risk.

Preludes 14 and the Current State of the Alpha

    UpdateKey Addition
Preludes 13 (Feb 2026)Full rework of player stat progression, new weapons, face/hair customization
Preludes 14 (Apr 2026)New narrative quest “The Wreck of Mestra Carmo,” seafaring expansion, fencing duel boss

Preludes 14 dropped on April 20 and steered the game into narrative territory nobody expected. Sarah Asselin, Senior Community Manager, called it part of the “bolder creative risks” the team is taking this year and hinted at more reveals at TennoCon. Access works through a weekly random draw on the official site, with Founder purchases as the fast-track option.

During registration on the 1xBet website, enter the promo code 1x_3831408 to get the opportunity to increase the maximum bonus on your first deposit. The bonus amount and wagering conditions depend on the country of registration, so before making your first deposit, make sure to familiarise yourself with the bonus crediting rules on the official website.

How Digital Extremes Approaches Live-Service Development Differently

Sinclair’s philosophy is to keep the team small and public scrutiny high, and he pointed to studios that launched major titles this year without building the kind of ongoing feedback loop Warframe has run for over a decade. The way tech standards reshape entertainment platforms shows up in Soulframe’s development too, because player feedback functions as infrastructure here, not an afterthought bolted on after launch.

Soulframe is PC-only through the alpha, with Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 planned once the full version ships. PCGamesN puts the earliest realistic 1.0 window at 2027 since the game has not entered beta yet, and betting markets tracking live-service launches tend to favor studios running extended testing programs with active communities. The 2027 line sits as the consensus on most sportsbook entertainment futures boards, with 2026 a long shot and 2028 drawing volume from contrarians.

    What Comes After the Alpha

TennoCon is the next reveal window. Digital Extremes has used the event for Soulframe updates and Warframe expansions before, and Asselin’s “seeds for the future” comment points to material news there.

The 1.0 date remains unannounced, which is why the wagering market on a hard launch year keeps attracting fresh contracts each time the studio teases another reveal cycle. Books that price entertainment futures usually need a date to settle before deeper markets form, but Soulframe’s open timeline has produced a secondary market on milestones. Beta entry, console parity, and first paid expansion windows sit on the same boards where the launch year remains a moving target.
