The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) has changed the way disability support is provided in Australia. Getting the NDIS registration is the first step to joining the NDIS provider network. That said, registration alone does not ensure clients. Participants and their families prioritise quality of service over generic service offerings. How to get NDIS clients, then?

This is where providers need a strategic approach that involves dedicated relationship-building efforts, excellent service, and digital marketing. In this article, we are going to talk about how to get NDIS clients.

How To Get NDIS Clients: 9 Strategies

Below are 9 strategies, including some marketing and advertising tips, on how to get NDIS clients:

    1. Register with NDIS Provider Directories

Multiple online directories display lists of NDIS providers and independent support workers. Participants often refer to these directories for checking out and comparing services, and finding the most suitable provider profile.

You can build your comprehensive profile on these directories with important details, like the services you offer, your experience, availability, and reviews from clients.

When using online directories, you must:

    • Update your listings regularly so (potential) participants know your precise offerings.
    • Promptly reply to all queries to ensure that you are present and easily reachable.
    • Maintain a high rating to establish participants’ trust.
    1. Create a Google Business Profile

Participants often go online searching for NDIS providers. You want your profile to come up in those searches. For this, you need a proper business profile with your services, operation hours, directions to your location, contact details, and reviews.

You can use Google My Business (GMB), which is a free service that you can use to bring your professional service to Google Maps listings and search results. Once you have created your profile, don’t forget to update your services, photos, and reviews regularly. If there is any change in detail, you must update the same.

    1. Build a Strong Online Presence

A strong online presence has become crucial for any business, regardless of the industry or scale. Likewise, you need a good online presence to reach your potential clients and their families and earn their trust in your services. There are various ways to achieve a robust online presence, like a professional website, SEO strategies, testimonials, pictures, and FAQs for common queries.

Know that building an online presence is not a one-time task. Rather, it is in the constant efforts. This includes regular posting, from blogs about basic services to advice on how to choose the right service.

    1. Network with Support Coordinators

Support Coordinators work with participants in managing their budget and identifying providers for their support requirements. Building good professional relationships with local support coordinators can prove helpful in getting referrals, as they play a part in the decision-making.

Share a capabilities statement or service brochure describing your services, specialties, and availability when making initial contact. This helps Support Coordinators in recognising your services that match the needs of participants. A good level of follow-up and excellent service delivery can also help in establishing these professional relationships.

    1. Collaborate with Allied Health Professionals

Allied Health Professionals, including Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, and Psychologists, frequently work with NDIS participants. In their interaction with the participants, they can identify domains where your service can be helpful, such as transport and/or daily living.

Participation in multi-disciplinary meetings and collaborative care planning helps strengthen working relationships. Ongoing collaboration also builds professional trust and long-term referral opportunities.

    1. Go to the NDIS and Disability Expos

NDIS and disability expos provide opportunities to engage directly with participants, family members, caregivers, Support Coordinators, and other service providers. Such events allow you to interact with clients, parents, caregivers, and Support Coordinators.

While participating in an exhibition, it is a good idea to have professional pamphlets, business cards, and testimonials to make your presence noticed. Stalls or mini-seminars can help you gain prominence and show your business as reliable and actively involved in the industry.

    1. Leverage Social Media

Social media platforms help providers connect with both participants and professionals. These platforms also support targeted advertising to reach participants and their families within specific areas.

Sharing pictures, and short clips featuring your services or a glimpse into your operations, can improve engagement. Sharing information, testimonials, and updates about your services can further help in maintaining your digital presence. Joining NDIS-related discussion groups enables meaningful interactions and strengthens professional presence.

    1. Utilise Paid Advertising

Paid advertising through platforms such as Google Ads and Facebook Ads enables providers to promote services to targeted groups based on location and service needs. Campaigns can be based on different services such as personal care and home adaptation.

Even a modest advertising budget can generate strong leads when campaigns are well planned and aligned with service offerings.

    1. Provide Outstanding Service and Request Referrals

Consistent, quality, and patient-centric services improve the chances of getting referrals. Happy clients and families will spread the news through verbal referrals. Encourage clients to write reviews or refer clients through online resources, social media sites, or online business listings. Small acts such as writing thank you or referral messages keep good relations with clients.

Marketing Strategies to Find NDIS Participants

When thinking about how to get NDIS clients, marketing must be on point. The right marketing strategy will help ensure you reach your target audience, and the potential participants have all the right information.

Here are some marketing strategies to consider:

    • Blogging: Upload blogs explaining common queries.
    • Video Marketing: Make videos showing everyday routines, explaining how NDIS funding operates, and introducing your staff.
    • Email Marketing: Share useful advice, updates, and testimonials through regular newsletters.
    • Messaging: Send service messages with a professional and warm tone.
    • Local Flyers and Posters: Put up flyers and posters in the local hospitals, clinics, and community centres.
    • Referral Networks: Partner up with GPs, hospitals, schools, and local councils.

    Wrapping Up!

You need strong visibility, transparency, and the right marketing strategies to get clients. You need to ensure quality services, and also need to ensure that the information about your quality offerings and feedback from satisfied clients reaches potential clients. Set up a professional online profile and strong online presence, keep updating the clients, and maintain consistency for steady client engagement.
