Charli XCX May Play Jadis in Greta Gerwig’s Narnia Movie

    This just in-

according to certain sources (*cough* Deadline *cough*) Grammy winner Charli XCX is a frontrunner for a very important role in Oscar winner Greta Gerwig‘s upcoming “Chronicles of Narnia” project for Netflix. First announced back in 2018, the “Barbie” director was announced as helming the film(s) in 2020.

Things have been pretty quiet since then, but every so often, we get a nibble of news.

Charli XCX is reportedly being looked at to play Jadis, the iconic White Witch who bribes Edmund to betray his siblings with hot chocolate and Turkish Delight. The role was last portrayed in live action by the ethereal Tilda Swinton in 2005’s “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe.”

Admittedly, our favorite version still remains the BBC mini series from 1988 with Barbara Kellerman as Jadis.

Obviously this hasn’t been confirmed yet, but we’ll let you know what we hear about this and other news.

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.
