Two words: Michelle Yeoh. Two more words: “Star Trek.” If that doesn’t get you excited, we don’t know what will. Okay fine- maybe an official trailer for the upcoming film, “Star Trek: Section 31” starring the Oscar winner as Emperor Philippa Georgiou! (Yeoh joined the ‘Trek family back when “Star Trek: Discovery” first premiered in 2017.)

Gergiou joins a secret division of Starfleet (the aforementioned Section 31), tasked with protecting the United Federation of Planets, she also must face the sins of her past.

It also stars Omari Hardwick (“Power“), Emmy winner Sam Richardson (“Ted Lasso“), Robert Kazinsky (“Pacific Rim“), Kacey Rohl (“Hannibal“), Sven Ruygrok (“One Piece“), James Hiroyuki Liao (“Barry“), Humberly Gonzalez (“Ginny & Georgia“), and Joe Pingue (“The Expanse“). Miku Martineau (“Kate“) plays a young Philippa Georgiou.

Olatunde Osunsanmi directs from a screenplay by Craig Sweeny, with story by Bo Yeon Kim and Erika Lippoldt.

“Star Trek: Section 31” is set to hit Paramount+ January 24th, 2025. Check out the official trailer now:

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.
