Arnold Schwarzenegger, Uma Thurman Reunite, to Thwart Batman?

Imagine if you will a “Batman” movie SO CHEESY, so absolutely technicolored and ridiculous, it made the original Adam West tv series look serious? That, our friends, is where “Batman & Robin” 1997 comes in. Yes, we’d go so far as to say it’s…worse? Okay maybe not worst, but it’s MORE ridiculous than “Batman Forever” in 1995. Tommy Lee Jones as TwoFace and Jim Carrey as The Riddler brought more of a menace to town than the next two villains.

“Batman & Robin” is not without it’s comic book charm, but it did leave a lot to be desired. With stars George Clooney and Chris O’Donell bringing the dynamic duo to life for this one, no one really knew what to expect. Nipples on the batsuit notwithstanding.

What the film did have was over the top villains. Former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger played Mr. Freeze with some of the worst/best oneliners ever. Oscar nominated actress Uma Thurman played Poison Ivy, with a makeup design we still can’t get our heads around. It’s like Scary Spice went anime with a two-toned color palate.

We digress. The big news is over the weekend, Thurman and Schwarzenegger reunited, and as most Rogue’s Gallery members do, vowed revenge on Batman.

There have been rumors for sometime one, the other, or both would return in some context for another “Batman” film. And while this isn’t really that kind of confirmation, it’s just nice to see two former co-stars hanging out.

You can catch “Batman & Robin” streaming on MAX.

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.
