We are DELIGHTED to share the first trailer from the upcoming “The Lord of the Rings” anime film, “The War of the Rohirrim.” This project is one near and dear to our hearts, and we cannot wait to see it in theaters. The story is set 183 years before the events chronicled in Sir Peter Jackson‘s original trilogy of films.

Lord Of The Rings: The War Of The Rohirrim

Directed by Kenji Kamiyama (“Blade Runner: Black Lotus“), the film will detail the story of Helm Hammerhand (Brian Cox), the ancient king of Rohan. We’ll meet his daughter, Hèra (Gaia Wise), who is every bit a Tolkien heroine, in their battle against the Dunlendings.

    The Cast

Brian Cox (“Succession”) as Helm Hammerhand, the mighty King of Rohan; Gaia Wise (“A Walk in the Woods”) as his daughter Heìra; and Luke Pasqualino (“Snowpiercer”) as Wulf. Miranda Otto, who delivered an unforgettable, award-winning performance in “The Lord of the Rings” Trilogy, reprises her role as Eìowyn, Shieldmaiden of Rohan, who serves as the tale’s narrator. The voice ensemble also includes Lorraine Ashbourne (Netflix’s “Bridgerton”), Yazdan Qafouri (“I Came By”), Benjamin Wainwright (“World on Fire”), Laurence Ubong Williams (“Gateway”), Shaun Dooley (“The Witcher”), Michael Wildman (“Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw”), Jude Akuwudike (“Beasts of No Nation”), Bilal Hasna (“Sparks”) and Janine Duvitski (“Benidorm”).

“The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim” is set to hit theaters December 13th, 2024. We’ll let you know what we hear about this and other news. Check out the trailer now:

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.
