We need to first say, this is probably the most on-brand thing for Oscar winning director Guillermo del Toro (so far). While working on his upcoming passion project- a take on Mary Shelly‘s “Frankenstein“- GdT had what one would describe as a spooky night.

The filmmaker began a series of tweets (or whatever they’re called now) late last night, describing his experience of saying in “the most haunted room” of a famed Aberdeen hotel.

Whilst in Aberdeen, I am staying in an old 1800’s hotel. i am in the Most Haunted room of it- which was vacated this morning by one of our producers. Odd electrical and physical occurences scared her into leaving asap. Stay tuned- if anything happens I will report.

I always stay in “the most haunted rooms“ but onlybonce did I experience anything supernatural- the rest of the time: nothing. I have high hopes.

I love Scotland- and, even when my links to it are not by bloodline, I feel close to it. My mother's family side, has lineage going to Ireland- the O'Colligan family. My Grandfather (after whom I am named) was Guillermo Gomez O'Colligan.

While GdT hasn’t yet posted this morning, he did end last night’s posts with this:

UPDATE-. I can only say:. Nothingbhas happened yet, but the atmosphere in the room is opressive and I am not gonna spend much more time there. It may be suggestion, but at this point I kept it but am sleeping in another room- I need 6 hours of sleep to have a good shooting day-…

So, here’s hoping everything went ok, and that filming goes well today!

Jacob Elordi (“Saltburn”) will star as The Monster in the film. Mia Goth (“Pearl,” “MaXXXine,”), Christoph Waltz (“Most Dangerous Game”), Felix Kammerer (“All Quiet on the Western Front”), Lars Mikkelsen (“The Witcher”), David Bradley (“Pinocchio”), Christian Convery (“Sweet Tooth”), and Oscar Isaac (“Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse”) as Victor Frankenstein. Del Toro is writing, directing, and producing the new feature for Netflix alongside J. Miles Dale.

The duo previously worked together on “Cabinet of Curiosities” which was also created for Netflix.

    UPDATE

He DID tweet this morning, so at least we know he survived the night.

6:28 Scotland. Finished the shooting day. Going into the room now- dinner at 8:00 Anything happens and I will update. the room has more than vibes there is something angry and teritorial there. A shred of rage. Room #4

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.
