The Pokémon World Championships will be coming to the Golden State for the next two years. 2025’s event will be held in Anaheim, California, and then in San Francisco in 2026. This means many of our friends will finally get to go. But don’t worry, even if you can’t make it in person, you can watch it virtually!

The Pokémon World Championships is an invitation-only esports event orchestrated by Play! Pokémon. This annual spectacle, traditionally held in August, showcases a variety of games from the beloved “Pokémon “series, inclusive of the Pokémon video games, trading card game, Pokémon Go, Pokémon Unite, and the Pokkén Tournament (up until its 2022 edition).

Participants secure their invitations to the World Championships through their exemplary performance in various qualifiers and tournaments conducted throughout the season. They vie for considerable scholarship money, enticing prizes, and the coveted title of World Champion. Apart from the Asian region, the distribution of invitations to the World Championships is managed by the Play! Pokémon program.
