The “Indiana Jones” Animated Series Deserves to be Made

Artist and animator Patrick Schoenmaker did something wonderful. Back in 2016, he uploaded an incredible video of something we’d love to see get made. An animated version of an “Indiana Jones” adventure! Remember how excited we were to tell you the entirety of “The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones” series was added to Disney+? Imagine that, but, entirely animated, with aspects of the 5 feature films as well.

“Indiana Jones must have been my first true movie hero ever since I watched Raiders of the Lost Ark on a VCR way back when. Yes, some other heroes came and went, but Indy always held a special place,” Schoenmaker said. “After Crystal Skull was released, my love for the character was once again fully ignited and with no new movies on the horizon back then, I decided to set up an Indiana Jones project of my own to keep the fire burning a little bit longer. So, that was back in 2011 and ‘a little bit longer’ turned into 5 years of hard work.”

And WHAT a great result! If you haven’t seen the resulting short animated project, do yourself a favor and watch it now. You can check out more of Schoenmaker’s work on his website (and blog) here.

We’d also like to remind everyone there have been ongoing rumors/reports of a series being eyed for Disney+. Wouldn’t this be perfect?

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.
