Giancarlo Esposito Joins Untitled Universal Monster Movie

Radio Silence, the movie studio that brought us “V/H/S” and “Scream,” is working a mystery monster movie for Universal. There’s no plot, and no official title for the film. But what we do know is multi-award winning actor Giancarlo Esposito has signed on as part of the cast.

Given there’s no plot or title shared, there’s not a whole lot we can tell you. But we can at least share who else is starring. Other cast members include Kevin Durand (“The Strain”), Dan Stevens (“Legion“), Kathryn Newton (“Freaky“), Alisha Weir (“Matilda: The Musical“), Angus Cloud, and Will Catlett. And, of course, “Better Call Saul” and “The Mandalorian” star Esposito.

This *could* be the rumored “Dracula’s Daughter” film. That project centered on a group of kidnappers who abduct a band of young people, one of whom ends up being the titular character. Woe then betides the kidnappers. Weir is playing the kidnapped who proves to be more than she appears, with Barrera playing one of the kidnappers.

There’s little we can do but speculate on what the new film might be. Given Universal has tried to revive an extended monster universe involving creatures like The Mummy, Dracula, and Jekyll and Hyde, it could be any number of old movie monsters being rewritten for a modern age. We’ll be sure to let you know when more information develops.

The untitled film is set for release on April 19th, 2024.
