Love it or hate it, you can’t deny the pioneering of all new technologies in James Cameron‘s “Avatar: The Way of Water.” In a recent event held at Disneyland’s Grand Californian Hotel, Bob Iger confirmed that “Avatar” attraction is coming to the Disneyland park in Anaheim.
The announcement came during Disney Forward, which is an event that details the park’s expansions, renovations. This includes changes to restaurants, shops, and attractions. Disneyland Resort president Ken Potrock shared what little information he could on the upcoming additions.
“Our Imagineers are working with Jim Cameron and his team…We’re going to share lots more details as they become available,” Potrock said. “By the way, as I become aware of what the heck we’re going to do. But stay tuned; it’s going to be really exciting. We’re thinking bold.”
When it comes to Disney Imagineering, bold can mean incredible. The possibilities are endless. Imagine converting the submarine ride into an underwater experience. Navi swimming alongside, exploring bioluminescent underwater forests amongst alien creatures. It could happen! Obviously, this is extremely early days, the ride is a brainstorm at best. But it seems to be very exciting news moving forward.
Other changes to the park, as we know, are the renovation of Splash Mountain into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. So get your last visits to the ride now, as of May 31st, it will be officially closed for renovation.
“Avatar 3” has a current release date of December 20th, 2024.
