Dracula Tie-In “Last Voyage of the Demeter” Gets Trailer

We are so very excited to share the first trailer for Universal Pictures’ upcoming film “The Last Voyage of the Demeter.” For those unaware, the Demeter is the ship which ferries Bram Stoker‘s classic vampire villain Dracula from his homeland to Mayfair, England. The film takes it’s cues from one single chapter in Stoker’s original novel, “The Captain’s Log.”

Be advised, there is portrayed animal trauma in the trailer below, so maybe don’t watch it if that’s a problem for you.

Carrying fifty unmarked wooden crates— containing earth (dirt) and other ephemera from Carpathia to London- strange events befall the doomed crew as they attempt to survive the ocean voyage, stalked each night by a merciless presence onboard the ship. When the Demeter finally arrives off the shores of England, it is a charred, derelict wreck. There is no trace of the crew.

Corey Hawkins (“In the Heights,” “Straight Outta Compton“) stars as Clemens, a doctor who joins the Demeter crew, Aisling Franciosi (“Game of Thrones“) as an unwitting stowaway, Liam Cunningham (“Game of Thrones“) as the ship’s captain, and David Dastmalchian (“Dune“) as the Demeter’s first mate. Jon Jon Briones (“American Horror Story“), Stefan Kapicic (“Deadpool,” “Better Call Saul“), Nikolai Nikolaeff (“Stranger Things“), and Javier Botet (“It” films, “Mama“) also star.

André Øvredal (“Scary Stories To Tell in the Dark,” “Trollhunter“) directs from a script by Bragi F. Schut (“Escape Room“), Stefan Ruzowitzky (“The Counterfeiters“), and Zak Olkewicz (“Bullet Train“).

“The Last Voyage of the Demeter” hits theaters August 11th, 2023.

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.
