“Shrek 5” is Happening, Original Voice Cast Hopefully Returning

    This just in-

A fifth “Shrek” film is finally moving forward again. Following the ending of “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish,” this isn’t really surprising, as we see the feline hero sailing towards Far Far Away. It’s actually been in some kind of development since 2016. Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri confirmed the project while talking about “The Super Mario Bros. Movie.”

“We anticipate the cast coming back,” Meledandri said. “Talks are starting now, and every indication that we’ve gotten is there’s tremendous enthusiasm on behalf of the actors to return.” Obviously, it can’t be a true “Shrek” film without Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz, and Eddie Murphy.

Speaking of Murphy, he DID comment earlier this year he’d be back in a heartbeat if another “Shrek” happened. “If [DreamWorks] ever came with another Shrek, I’d do it in two seconds,” he said. “I love Donkey. They did Puss in Boots movies. I was like, ‘They should have done a Donkey movie.’ Donkey is funnier than Puss in Boots. I mean, I love Puss in Boots, but he ain’t funny as the Donkey.”

“The Super Mario Bros. Movie” hits theaters April 5th, 2023. We’ll let you know what we hear about more Shrek!

Though she be but little, she is fierce.
