CS:GO remains the favorite of many fans of FPS games. The shooter delights gamers with its various game modes, each with its own unique set of maps. Let’s take a look at the features of these maps.

List of Current Maps in CS:GO

CS:GO is a game where you can perfectly develop your skills in strategy development. Moreover, shooter players receive rewards for careful planning and thoughtful actions. Skills are essential in the development of players. To improve their skills, players explore different maps and practice with friends and strangers. There are several different pools of maps in CS:GO that are suitable for various purposes: Active Duty Map Pool, Reserve Map Pool, and Hostage Rescue Maps. If you are serious about success in CS:GO, you should get to know each of the maps better.

    Active Duty Maps

The Active Duty Pool consists of seven maps that are the most competitive and balanced. These maps are used in all of the shooter’s competitive tournaments, including the Valve-sponsored Majors. Among the maps in this pool are Inferno, Mirage, Nuke, Overpass, Ancient, Anubis, and Vertigo. The last change to the map set was on November 18, 2022. Anubis was added to the map pool instead of Dust II. Let’s go ahead if you want to know all about CS:GO Anubis map.

    Overpass

This is one of the most popular CT-sided maps in the shooter. The map is based on a water canal and overpass in Berlin, Germany. The players on the counter-terrorist side have a lot of space to work with, and the terrorists need to get through difficult places like the Monster in the B site. This map is great for AWPers and talented aimers who want to excel.

    Nuke

The scene takes place at the nuclear power plant Cedar Creek, which is located in the north of the United States. This is a rather difficult map, which is why it is not very popular among CS:GO players. Nuke has a unique design where the bomb sites are placed right on top of each other. This complexity allows the participants to act out extremely interesting scenarios. Due to difficulty in the design, Valve removed the map from the Active Duty Pool in 2015, but re-added an updated map in 2016.

    Anubis

The actions in the map take place in a small town in Egypt. It is a rather diverse map with a lot of positions. Interestingly, its design is similar to Dust II. The number and variety of textures on the Anubis surpass Dust II. There are more connections between key areas on the Anubis. This map, like Dust II, has a higher win rate on the terrorist side.

    Mirage

The scene takes place somewhere in the Middle East. The main battles take place at the bombing sites (A and B), in the center, and in the apartments. This is a flexible, versatile map, so over the 10 years of the map’s existence, players can still find new strategies.

    Ancient

The scene on the Ancient map takes place in Mexico. It shows the Chichen Itza landmark, which is located in Mexico. This is one of the darkest maps in the pool. However, its design allows counter-terrorists to take control of the game, as terrorists can run into obstacles such as narrow corridors and entrances.

    Inferno

The action takes place on the streets of a small village in Italy. The terrorists are trying to plant a bomb at two points. There are boxes with weapons. Special forces must prevent undermining these points. This is a difficult but fascinating map. It hosted some of the best matches in CS:GO history. Inferno is perfect for players with a good level of training, as it requires a lot of knowledge about stun grenades and Molotovs to be successful on the T-side. In 2016, Valve made adjustments to the design of the map, as well as improved the chances of victory for the terrorists.

    Reserve CS:GO Maps

This pool consists of maps that could potentially be re-added to the Active Duty Maps pool. This includes such maps as Dust II, Train, Cache, Mocha, and Grind. The Cache map was created based on the idea of the Chornobyl nuclear power plant. This map was previously in the main pool. This is one of the most T-sided maps. The Train map is based on a railway station, which is located on Russian soil. The design of this map opens up many interesting and advantageous positions for counter-terrorists.

    Hostage CS:GO Maps

Maps from this pool involve rescuing hostages. For each CS:GO map, the number of hostages is always constant and they are always in the same place. On the one hand, this simplifies the task, and on the other hand, terrorists can better prepare for a meeting with special forces. This pool consists of such maps as Militia, Agency, Office, Italy, and Assault.

    To Wrap Up!

CS:GO offers great opportunities for players to practice with completely different maps. Exploring new territories and practicing skills in a certain scenario will surely increase your chances of success in CS:GO.
