We are very sorry to share the news that American television icon Cindy Williams, best known as one half of “Laverne & Shirley” (among many other roles!) has passed away. She had a starring role in Francis Ford Coppola‘s “The Conversation” alongside Gene Hackman, George Lucas‘ “American Graffiti” alongside Harrison Ford and Ron Howard, and would eventually team up with fellow gifted comedian Penny Marshall on the “Happy Days” spinoff series, “Laverne & Shirley.”

Cindy’s children, Zak and Emily Hudson, released a statement about her passing:

“The passing of our kind, hilarious mother, Cindy Williams, has brought us insurmountable sadness that could never truly be expressed. Knowing and loving her has been our joy and privilege. She was one of a kind, beautiful, generous and possessed a brilliant sense of humor and a glittering spirit that everyone loved.”

    Williams was 75.

Pluto TV’s Happy Days channel is honoring the life and work of the iconic ‘Happy Days’ and ‘Laverne and Shirley’ star, Cindy Williams. Her imprint on television will never be forgotten. All day on January 31st, viewers who want to honor her work as sitcom legend Shirley Feeney can tune-in to a 24/7 marathon of Laverne & Shirley on the Happy Days channel in Pluto TV’s Classic TV category. You can tune in now HERE.

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.
