No, Jacob Elordi Isn’t James Gunn’s New Superman

Oh, nameless sources on the internet. Is there anything you won’t claim? Factual casting information? Naaaaw. Real, honest-to-goodness leads? Not in THIS place, friend! At least we have personalties like DC Studios’ co-head James Gunn to weed through some of the more egregious rumors; giving us the ultimate primary source.

    Jacob Elordi “Euphoria” HBO

Today’s little chestnut is the frankly outlandish rumor concerning a new face as Superman. Jacob Elordi (“The Kissing Booth,” “Euphoria“) has apparently been suggested as taking on the mantle of the Last Son of Krypton. Online ‘sources’ claim this choice came from Gunn, for one of his upcoming projects for WB’s newly launched comics-based film department.

    Gunn- bless him- has clarified.

My thoughts are no one has been cast as Superman yet. Casting, as is almost always the case with me, will happen after the script is finished or close to finished, and it isn’t. We’ll announce a few things in not too long, but the casting of Superman won’t be one of them. ?‍♂️ https://t.co/2SGWV2RSI7

So, a couple of things there. One, the confirmation that a new Superman actor is likely. (Yes, we already knew that was the case with the heartbreaking Henry Cavill news.) Two, the script for the project isn’t close to being finished, which also refutes rumors that the script is already in circulation. Three, why the hell did he pick a mermaid emoji.

Moral of the story is…don’t believe everything you see/read/hear from one of THOSE sites. Looking at you, WGTC.

We’ll of course let you know what we hear about this and other news.

She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.
