Adam Driver vs. Dinosaurs in Sci-Fi Thriller “65” Trailer

Sony Pictures is looking to get a fast start in 2023. With “Spider-man: Across the Spider-Verse Part 1” set to drop next year, they could’ve rested on their laurels by dropping the first teaser trailer earlier this year. But looking to make a statement, the studio decided to drop a surprising new trailer for “65,” a new sci-fi film starring Adam Driver. He’s had quite the eclectic career, afforded the ability to tackle whatever interests him and seldom doing the same role twice. Never one to be typecast, him showing up in a sci-fi time traveling action thriller like “65” is as surprising as the movie itself.

In “65,” a space exploration mission goes horribly wrong, and crash lands on a mysterious planet with pilot Mills (Driver) and a child Koa (Ariana Greenblatt) being the sole survivors. It isn’t long before they both realize that they are not safe, and that they have somehow travel back in time 65 million years ago where dinosaurs ruled the earth. They now must find a way back and a way to survive in a world where everything is trying to kill them.

Truthfully, “65” feels more like a throwback to 90s action science fiction than an upcoming 2023 film. But sometimes, that comfort food is exactly what we need, and if there’s one thing you can say about Adam Driver, it’s that he will never ever give anything less than everything to any role. I can’t think of anything more simple and effective than Driver vs Dinosaurs, and I’m all the way here for it!

Written and directed by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods (“A Quiet Place“), it is produced by none other than Sam Raimi. While I may be a stuffy old critic who only enjoys high minded indie movies no one has ever heard of (which, yeah, sure am and very much do) I’m 100% on board with “65.” The Beck and Woods combo managed to transform Sign Language vs Aliens into a viable and compelling franchise, so I have a lot of faith that this new spaceman vs dinosaurs can be just as intriguing and fun.

You can catch me at the movies in March with a giant popcorn for “65.” I’m ready, are you?

“65” is set to release in theaters March 17th, 2023. You can watch the trailer below.
