Ryan Grantham who played the part of a bush during a “Wizard of Oz” play in the film “Diary of a Wimpy Kid,” has been sentenced to life in prison. He was also in “Riverdale” as Jeffery Augustine, a teen who hits Fred Andrews with his father’s truck and kills him.
He was charged with his mother’s murder and intent for a few other major crimes. Luckily he was caught and jailed before he could do further damage. It appears that he is mentally unstable to be able to say some of the things he intended to do before surrendering to the police.
Grantham aged 24, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for the 2020 killing of Barbara Waite, his 64-year-old mother, as she played piano in their British Columbia home. He’ll be eligible for parole in 14 years, CBC reported.
What cinched the ruling was a GoPro video of him admitting to killing his mother, showing him and his mother’s body as it lay in the background. He was arrested and found with a bunch of guns and Molotov cocktails and was intending to kill the Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in Ottawa. He had also been considering performing a mass shooting before turning himself in.
His defense lawyer Chris Johnson had this to say about his sentencing…“I think he’s pretty apprehensive about the whole thing. He’s a fairly tiny person, and to go to the prison system, I’m sure it’s a daunting and scary thought for him,” Johnson said. He also said that Grantham had expected the ruling to be life in prison.
