Do High-End Laptop Manufacturers Use The Best Components?

When looking for a great laptop to buy, you have two options. You can either buy an expensive device from a big-name manufacturer or build your own. Both options have their pros and cons. If you are leaning towards a standard device, however, you will want to know if the manufacturer uses the best components.

One benefit of buying a ready-built laptop is that it is easier to keep track of your warranty and to get the right insurance. Does your laptop’s warranty count as insurance? A warranty differs from insurance, in that it only covers technical issues whereas insurance covers theft and accidental damage. You’re going to need both, whether you buy a ready-built laptop or build your own.

So, do high-end laptop manufacturers use the best components? Or will you have to upgrade parts?

    Apple vs other manufacturers

It is worthwhile dwelling for a moment on the difference between Apple Macbooks and laptops made by other manufacturers. In recent years, the gap has widened. This is not necessarily because Apple has shot ahead, but rather because Macbooks no longer use Intel chips. They come with Apple’s own M1 or M2 chips.

By all accounts, Apple’s new processing chips are excellent. Most experts agree that they are at least as good as their competitors. However, you will only get an Apple chip if you buy an Apple device. This is one component you cannot get if you are going to build your own laptop.

Another point worth mentioning in regards to Macbooks is that they are supposed to be entirely ready-built. Apple makes it difficult to upgrade components, but offset this by including top-quality parts. This won’t help if you’re trying to upgrade to a specialist graphics card – although you can add an external GPU.

    SSDs are becoming standard

Many laptops still come with HDDs, which are slow and cumbersome. However, these are the budget laptops rather than the high-end options. You’re no longer going to have to upgrade your hard drive if you buy one of the best laptops in 2022.

This applies to many other aspects of a laptop in 2022. While inbuilt graphics cards are never going to be of the same quality as specialist GPUs, high-end laptops do come with excellent inbuilt GPUs. The reality is that, as parts once considered specialist are becoming necessary for high-end laptop users, they are also becoming standard in high-end laptops.

    Always check the specs

That being said, you should always do your homework, no matter how good a reputation a certain manufacturer has. Check all of the specs, not just those that are most pertinent. Ensure that the best hardware is being used in the laptop you want to buy. While warranties will fix any issues that occur within the first year (or two), low-quality components can lower the lifespan of your laptop and slow it down.

Ultimately, if you get a laptop without checking all the specs, unpleasant surprises are a real possibility. If you’re unsure of what you should be looking for in the specs, do some research or ask a friend.

    Futureproof laptops

You can get a laptop with all the best parts but still find yourself with buyers’ remorse. This happens relatively often these days because of the pace at which new tech is released. The release of a new GPU may make your current option look terrible, leaving you wishing you’d waited a few months longer.

If you’re the type who always wants the newest tech, you should consider building your own laptop. It is the most effective way of futureproofing your device. When you build your own laptop, you are better able to upgrade parts without having to upgrade your whole device.

The best laptop manufacturers use high-quality components for their laptops. If you’ve decided to go with a ready-built laptop over building your own, a high-end laptop should serve your needs. However, don’t forget to check all of the specifications before making your purchase.
