LIST OF THE MOUNTAINS IN VIETNAM THAT ARE WORTH A VISIT
With three-fourths of the country covered with mountains and hills, mountains in Vietnam have become an important part of the country. To a majority of indigenous people, they are precious resources, treasures that need cherishing and protecting. The following are some of the most outstanding places scattered all across the country and you should place at least one of them when traveling to Vietnam.
Fansipan Mountain – top most famous mountains in Vietnam
Fansipan is the highest mountain in Vietnam and even in Indochina. Located at an altitude of up to 3,143m and in the Hoang Lien Son Mountain Range, Fansipan (only about 9km southwest of Sapa Town) has long become a popular tourist attraction for both domestic and foreign tourists.
Despite the arduous climbing route, in return, you would be treated with a series of breathtaking sceneries along the journey. However, the “long-term” journey through the craggy mountains in freezing weather requires considerable passion and physical strength. What makes Fansipan Peak outstanding over most mountains in Vietnam is that it is connected with its foot by climbing trains and a modern cable car system called Sun World Fansipan Legend.
Cable car fee: 820,000 VND/adult ($35.3) & 620,000 VND/child ($26.7)
Pu Si Lung Mountain
Pu Si Lung – a quite special mountain of 3,080m high is located on the border of Vietnam and China. The Vietnamese part of the mountain belongs to Pa Ve Su Commune, Muong Te District, Lai Chau Province. Because of the special geographical position and role, getting permission from the Lai Chau Province’s Border Guard is compulsory before you could trek the Pu Si Lung route.
It is the truly wild and unspoiled beauty of Pu Si Lung that makes it one of the best mountains in Vietnam and allures hosts of trekkers and inspires them to explore and conquer it. Additionally, this is a place of diverse landscapes beautifully spotted with azaleas, orchids, and more. Therefore, much as it is hard and energy-wasting to reach the peak, every year, Pu Si Lung welcomes many brave “guests”.
Mua Mountain
Mua Mountain is one of the favorite destinations of tourists when coming to Ninh Binh Province. Although it is not as famous as Trang An or Tam Coc – Bich Dong, this mountain in Vietnam is still an attraction that’s definitely worth your visit due to its special shape and the legend it is associated with.
Located at the foot of Mua Mountain, it seems like this cave is in the shape of a large upside-down 800-meter-wide bell. According to ancient legend, when a King of the Tran Dynasty returned to Hoa Lu to construct a Thai Vi Temple, he often came to this place to enjoy beautiful women and imperial maids dancing and singing. In Vietnamese, that kind of dance is called “Mua” and that is the origin of the name Mua Cave. Because it is exploited to be a tourist site, you must buy a ticket of 100,000 VND ($4.3) to approach it.
Marble Mountains – special mountains in Vietnam
Located on the route Danang – Hoi An, the Marble Mountains is a cluster of 5 limestone mountains jutting out on the coastal sand. They are named after the five elements: Metal Mountain (Kim Son), Wood Mountain (Moc Son), Water Mountain (Thuy Son), Fire Mountain (Hoa Son), and Earth Mountain (Tho Son). Because these elements are key concepts in the tradition of Asian countries, the Marble Mountains complex is seen as the religious symbol of Danang city.
Among the 5 mountains, Thuy Son is the most beautiful and largest one which is home to a series of magnificent caves and sacred pagodas such as Huyen Khong Cave, Am Phu Cave, Thien Long Cave, Linh Ung Pagoda, Tam Thai Pagoda,… To get to the top of these mountains in Vietnam, you can either climb just more than a hundred steps or spend 30,000 VND ($1.3) for a two-way ticket of an elevator with a transparent glass chamber.
Langbiang Mountain
If you plan to visit Dalat City, Langbiang Mountain – the highest mountain in the city should definitely lie on your list of destinations. Standing on the top of the mountain, you can enjoy the panoramic view of the city under the layer and layer of fog. This would be an extremely impressive scenery, very poetic and romantic as well.
As one of the most beautiful mountains in Vietnam, Langbiang Mountain not only has beautiful, poetic, and shimmering scenery but is also associated with various legends symbolizing the endless love of the K’ho ethnic people. About its details, why don’t you go there and hear from the locals and feel the sense of eternal love by yourself?
Bach Moc Luong Tu Mountain
Bach Moc Luong Tu Mountain is also called Ky Quan San, located between the natural boundary of two communes, Sin Suoi Ho (Phong Tho, Lai Chau province) and Sang Ma Sao (Bat Xat, Lao Cai province), Vietnam. This mountain lies at an altitude of 3046m above sea level and is thus ranked 4th in the top 10 highest mountains in Vietnam, behind Fansipan, Putaleng, and Pusilung.
Thanks to its extremely irresistible attraction throughout the journey, it is no coincidence that Bach Moc Luong Tu is very popular with many trekkers. Conquering Bach Moc Luong Tu mountain with a mostly rugged route is a real challenge both physically and mentally! However, “no pain, no gain”, right? “Sweet fruit” is always waiting for trekkers who have made huge efforts to reach the top. From the peak of this mountain in Vietnam, you would be extremely excited to contemplate Bach Moc Luong Tu mountain with pure white clouds, and breathtaking sceneries that no poetic words could exactly and vividly describe cause this is truly a paradise on earth.
What do you think of these majestic mountains in Vietnam? Do they make you utter “Wow”? If that is the case, it is high time that you grab your backpack and start your trip to this beautiful country to admire the breathtaking scenery of the above-mentioned destinations and even numerous other interesting ones.
