George Miller’s “3000 Years of Longing” First Trailer Releases

We are delighted to share the first official trailer for George Miller‘s next feature film, “Three Thousand Years of Longing.” The long-gestating film has an incredible cast, and anything Miller creates is always worth seeing.

Early descriptions explain the film as centering around “a scholar on a trip to a speaking engagement in Istanbul inadvertently summons a Djinn who details his long journey through fantasy and history as he endeavors to tempt this scholar — who claims she wants for nothing — to make her three wishes.” Tilda Swinton stars as the scholar, alongside Idris Elba as the Djinn.

The film, which Miller co-wrote with his daughter Augusta Gore, is premiering at the Cannes International Film Festival, 2022.

JunkieXL (aka Tom Holkenborg) is composing the score.

Also it’s worth noting that MGM is using both “3000 Years of Longing” and “Three Thousand Years of Longing” as official titles. Looks like a summer release is the goal.

We’ll let you know what else we hear about this and other projects.

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.
