When someone so young passes away, it’s never easy to hear about. Kailia Posey, known for ‘The Grinning Girl’ meme, started out on “Toddlers & Tiaras.” She was a pageant star as a child, and always in the spotlight. One of her dreams was to become an airline pilot. Reports are saying that she died by suicide.
On May 2nd, her mother Marcy Posey Gatterman wrote a social media post on Facebook. She said, “I don’t have words or any thoughts. A beautiful baby girl is gone. Please give us privacy as we mourn the loss of Kailia. My baby forever.”
She had won many crowns and was even tapped to be a cheerleader next season. It’s unfortunate that she chose to end her life and it leaves us wondering what she may have been struggling with. As is the case with many child stars being in the spotlight can be a huge burden.
Her parents have started a fundraiser to help other teens who may be struggling, at the Whatcom Community Foundation.
