Doug Jones Confirms “Hocus Pocus 2” Wrapped, Release Date!

When word came that Disney was working on a sequel to beloved witchy film “Hocus Pocus,” we were concerned. The original cast didn’t get confirmed for at least a year, there were questions about directors and scripts. All in all, it felt like a sudden grasp for any popular property easily revisited for Disney+. But as we know now, all three original Sanderson sisters are returning.

Also, everyone’s favorite long-limbed performer, Doug Jones! He brought the character of Billy Butcherson to life (er, reanimation?) in the original film, and has been a delight to watch on screen for decades. Name a tall creature in a film or tv series, chances are it’s Jones behind that makeup. Abe Sapien in “Hellboy?” That’s Doug. Fauno / Pale Man in “Pan’s Labyrinth?” Also Doug. The Silver Surfer, Captain Saru, The Ancient on “The Strain,” Amphibian Man from “The Shape of Water“- all Doug Jones.

I got to be Doug Jones’ Saturn Award stand in 2019.

Today on his personal social media accounts, Jones confirmed that filming has wrapped on “Hocus Pocus 2!”

“Hocus Pocus 2” will hit Disney+ appropriately on October 31st, 2022.

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.
