Author: Mary Anne Butler

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.

Hot on the heels of the season 3 finale of Amazon Prime Video’s hugely popular “The Boys,” we have an update on that spinoff series. After some false starts- mostly stemming from changing actors- we’ve got some good news for fans. The collegiate spinoff series will be called “GEN V,” and we’ve got some casting confirmations. Amazon Prime Video also shared a synopsis of sorts: Set at America’s only college exclusively for young-adult superheroes (run by Vought International), Gen V is an irreverent, R-rated series that explores the lives of hormonal, competitive Supes as they put their physical, sexual, and moral boundaries…

If there’s ONE thing you know about Nerdbot, it’s that we’re semi-obsessed with “Dune.” Okay, not all of us are, but our Editor-In-Chief (me) sure is. Which is why you can hopefully understand my excitement about Super7’s new line of ReAction figures! Based on David Lynch’s iconic 1984 version of Frank Herbert’s seminal work of science fiction, the line features 5 figures. You can already order these via Super7’s website here. They run $18 a figure, or $90 for the full set.The only thing I’ll complain about is the lack of Chani and Jessica. Again. Super7’s new lineup of “Dune”…

After decades of planning, Nintendo has finally acquired their very own animation studio. Dynamo Pictures has produced pieces for Final Fantasy 13-2, Metroid: Other M, and more. An announcement indicates the new venture will be called Nintendo Pictures, once the deal completes. This could be good news for the entertainment giant- having an in-house option for cut scenes. But calling the resulting studio ‘Pictures’ is interesting. Does this possibly point to the company as looking towards animated films? We think it does.Nintendo also acquired SRD Co. Ltd earlier this year. Another longstanding partnership, SRD worked on such iconic titles as…

We are so very excited to share a brand new teaser for Amazon Prime Video’s upcoming “The Lord of Rings: The Rings of Power.” Based on the works of JRR Tolkien, the series takes place much earlier in Middle-earth (and beyond’s) history than we’ve previously seen in film. This epic drama is set thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings,…

Amazon Prime’s adaptation of “The Wheel of Time” made some…interesting choices. Things were altered, changed, added, which is totally normal for tv series based on a book series. More-so when the source material is 14 freaking books long. Which is why it was strange the series opted to add so much additional content that didn’t really have much to do with the novels. But, in this case, the added stuff (a scene that was teased in the initial trailers for “Wheel of Time”) was removed from the first season. During this past weekend’s WoTCon in Ohio, two deleted scenes were…
