Ever the busy bee, Murray Bartlett is joining the upcoming Hulu limited series about the founder of Chippendales, “Immigrant.” Bartlett will be playing Nick De Noia, the male revue shows’ producer / choreographer.
The series will focus on Chippendales founder Somen “Steve” Banerjee, being played by Kumail Nanjiani. Banerjee took some less than legal routes to bring Chippendales from a sketchy west LA endeavor to the globally recognized name it is today. De Noia was there to help out and of course participate in some of the questionable perks of the venture.
De Noia was also infamously assassinated in his Manhattan office.
“Immigrant” is being written and co-showrun by Robert Siegel who also has the upcoming “Pam & Tommy” project coming out on Hulu. “Pam & Tommy” focuses on the relationship, honeymoon, and infamous sex tape of Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee. “Immigrant” will also be on Hulu and we are definitely sensing a theme for Siegel…
Jenni Konner of “Girls” and “Camping” will serve as the other co-showrunner. The series is being produced by Nanjiani, Konner, Siegel, Dylan Sellers, Emily V. Gordon, Ramin Bahrani, and Rajiv Joseph.
Bartlett most recently was in “The White Lotus” as hotel manager Armond. He will also be in the upcoming HBO adaptation of “The Last of Us” alongside Nick Offerman. The two will play survivalists Frank and Bill respectively. Nanjiani can currently be seen in Marvel Studios’ “Eternals” on Disney+, and as a guest on Netflix’s upcoming “Murderville.”
“Immigrant” will be an eight episode limited series on Hulu.
