Nothing comes to mind more than the iconic voice of Minnie Mouse. Russi Taylor who was the official voice for the character was reported deceased by the Walt Disney Co. She died Friday in Glendale California and was 75 years of age.
Bob Iger said “Minnie Mouse has lost her voice with the passing of Russi Taylor. We are so grateful for Russi’s talent as well as the tremendous spirit and great joy she brought to everything she did. It was a privilege to have known her and an honor to have worked with her, and we take comfort in the knowledge that her work will continue to entertain and inspire for generations to come.”
“Russi will be sorely missed and our hearts go out to her family and friends, along with our deepest condolences.”
Russi had voiced the character since 1987, when she was first credited for her work on “DTV ‘Doggone’ Valentine. Her voice is the one that most are familiar with if they grew up in the 90’s – the 00’s. Some other voices she did consisted of Martin Prince on the Simpsons, characters on “The Jetsons”, “The Muppets”, “Scooby Doo” and Pebbles on “The Flintstones.
One of her most famous quotes was ““I never wanted to be famous. The characters I do are famous, and that’s fine for me.” She was an icon in the voice acting community for her humility and she will be sorely missed by all who she made an impression on. Those who knew her personally and those who enjoyed her work through the magic of TV.
Despite this being a sad day we can find comfort knowing that she will finally be reunited with her husband Wayne Allwine. Wayne was the voice of Mickey Mouse and the couple were known as Disney Legends. Allwine died at the age of 62 in 2009.
At this time there are no details about cause of death. But we expect them to be released soon.
